Assisted Dying

Liberal Vannin notes the recent decision by the States of Jersey to approve in principle legislation on Assisted Dying in that jurisdiction and their 2- 3 year timetable to draft a Bill, with appropriate consultation.

We acknowledge that views on this issue are a matter of individual conscience and as such we are not taking a political position as a Party.

However, we do note changing attitudes, both on Island and throughout the various jurisdictions of the UK, with proposals being debated in the House of Lords and the Scottish Parliament, and believe that public consultation on the Island would be appropriate during the current administration.
